Tag Your Blog

My tag represents who I am and my favorite things in various ways. First, I love love love reading, my tag represents that by incorporating all my favorite book series into one. The black color of my book symbol shows who I am on the inside, bold and brave and ready to help anyone in need. My yellow background shows who I am on the outside and inside, cheerful, fun, silly, and joking.

The Mockingjay

The bird soars across the sky
Across the ruins
Of it’s destroyed woods
It’s voice replicating
Whoever’s it heard.

Abandoned by the Capitol
Secluded in the woods
Until all was left of them
Were flaming stumps of brown.

Left to die there,
To leave the world,
In peace,
And hate.

Though not knowing that,
They will thrive.
That they will live,
That they would mate.

Into me.
The mockingjay.
I am the symbol
Of the revolution.

Born on gold
Of Katniss Everdeen’s pin
Her token, her last piece of hope
When she was thrown
Into a televised deathmatch
The Hunger Games.

I gave her a name
A job
A nationwide symbol.

A mockingjay
The symbol
The hope
The bird that survived
Against all odds

Like Katniss
And Peeta Mellark
Forced into love
In exchange
For survival.

The berries
Defiance of the Capitol
Like how I survived
A nasty victory
rubbed into their faces.

My survival was a mistake,
An underestimation,
Of the tiny jabberjays.

But sometimes,
Just a spark,
Can start a fire.

The Meaning of Friendship

In the novel Wonder, a main theme is that friends accept one another’s differences and like them just the way they are. Jack and Summer show that they are true friends to Auggie by hanging out with him and therefore accepting that his face is different from theirs. When Auggie first enters Beecher Prep, everyone is shocked and horrified by his face. For example, people stared and gasped at Auggie when he walked through the hallways, and whispered about him behind his back. This really hurt Auggie’s feelings. Jack and Summer are devoted friends because they didn’t get horrified about his face and acted like he was like everybody else. Summer, for instance, chose to sit with him at lunch and played with him at recess. Jack, although chosen by their principal to help Auggie, soon become real friends with him and hung out with him in the classes they had together. Jack and Summer were also really different from the rest of the school because they were the only ones who accepted Auggie in the beginning. Later in the book, friendship is shown by Henry, Miles, and Amos when they stand up and therefore accept Auggie on the class field trip While at the fairgrounds during the field trip, Auggie and Jack stumble upon a group of 7th graders while trying to find their way back. The Grade 7 students make fun of Auggie’s face and hit Jack. Henry, Miles, Amos, and Jack stand up for Auggie, and then help everyone escape from the bullies. Henry, Miles, and Amos show true friendship because they tried to protect Auggie although they knew that they might get hurt. As a result of their actions, Auggie knows that Henry, Miles, and Amos have finally put their differences aside and accepted him. Overall, in Wonder, the actions of Jack, Summer, Henry, Miles, and Amos show that the main message is that loyal friends accept one another’s differences.

Preventing Bullying

We can help prevent bullying in our community by using our words and actions. We can prevent bullying using our words by speaking up and telling a trusted adult if we see bullying happening. For example, if we see bullying, we could step in and tell the bully to stop. If this doesn’t stop the bully, we could go tell a trusted adult about what is happening. Also, we can prevent bullying using our actions by walking away from the bullying. For instance, if we see bullying, we could walk away, therefore, not giving the bully an audience. When we walk away from the bullying, we prevent bullying by showing the bully that their behaviour is not entertaining and funny. All in all, bullying is a serious problem that we don’t need, but we can help eliminate it in our society by speaking up and walking away from it.

Depending On When You Met Me

Depending on when you met me, I might have been: a bubbly, noisy school bus companion, Annie, a severe laughaholic, an extreme worrypot, a Percy Jackson hater, 1/14 of a dedicated journalism team, a grumpy fish, Smartie Pants, a quiet, whimsical bookworm, or an extremely disheveled, clumsy, disorganized and wide-eyed 6th grade student.
